Overview

The American University of Malta is seeking a dedicated and organized IT Senior Officer to be responsible for the IT environment and to develop a strategy or plan and drive its implementation. The ideal candidate will have problem solving and analytical skills and have proficiency in networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, databases, and software development.

• The IT Senior Officer will monitor the system performance and the configuration of new software and hardware. The incumbent possesses ability to operate both at a strategic and operation level with excellent troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with various operating systems.

• The IT Senior Officer ensures that the University software, hardware, servers and networks run smoothly.

• Develop and implement the IT plan for AUM.

• Ensure that a seamless and efficient IT service is provided throughout AUM.

• Responsible for the IT Contingency and BCP .

• Maintain current system and network availability all day.

• Maintain a high level of security on our servers through access controls, backups and

• firewalls.

• Implement new technologies to improve services provided to users.

• Identify the requirement and needs of IT department.

• Escalate any issues identified to Senior management proposing actions to mitigate them including root cause analysis.

• Write documentation for the IT infrastructure and keep it updated. 

• Follow IT policies and suggest changes as per the business needs.

• Keep an IT inventory updated.

• Procuring new IT requirement needed based on the policies.

• Provide end-user support for the users (Staff and students).

• Supporting and troubleshooting AUM employees and student for any technical problems, physically and remotely

• Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks and Wide Area networks

• Support and maintain the network infrastructure and wireless

• Support and maintain the IT hardware including computers, laptops, and printers

• Support CCTV system

• Support Antivirus system

• Providing training with new software

• Support Data backup system Veeam

• Support on OCLC Library Platform

• Follow the escalated issues with Spice works Helpdesk platforms

• Supporting Office 356 installation and configuration for AUM staff \Students

• Support Moodie Platform (online classes)

• Assisting the AUM staff and students with installing and configuring all AUM software

• Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks

• Help update training manuals for new and revised software and hardware

• Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners

• And other duties as might be requested by supervisor
