Overview

Duties and Responsibilities

1.1. Provost (Chief Academic Officer)

The Provost is the University's chief academic officer and the primary executive responsible for all academic affairs. The Provost leads academic strategy, oversees all academic units and programs, ensures academic quality and accreditation compliance, and advances the University's mission for teaching, learning, research, and student success.

1.2. President

The President is the chief executive officer of the University, responsible for overall leadership, strategic direction, institutional reputation, financial performance, external relations, and ensuring that the University fulfills its mission, vision, and long-term goals. The President represents the institution to its governing board, government entities, strategic partners, and external stakeholders.

1.3. Acting President / Dual Role Arrangement

During the period in which the Candidate serves simultaneously as Provost and Acting President, the individual will assume the full responsibilities of both posts. The Acting President shall exercise all executive powers delegated by the Board of Trustees, while continuing to lead and supervise the academic affairs as Provost.In this combined capacity, the Candidate shall ensure continuity of leadership, safeguard academic and administrative quality, and oversee progress toward the University's strategic objectives.

2. Detailed Responsibilities

2.1. Strategic Leadership and Institutional Management

l. Lead the formulation, execution, and periodic review of the University's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with its mission, vision, and core values.

2. Direct and supervise academic, administrative,financial, and operational functions to ensure institutional effectiveness and operational integrity.

3. Promote a unified institutional culture, cohesive leadership environment, and strong internal cooperation among colleges, departments, and administrative units.

4. Ensure transparent, evidence-based decision making and effective governance practices across the institution.

5. Maintain a consistent and visible leadership presence that fosters stability, motivation, and high performance across the University.

2.2. Academic Affairs and Program Quality

1. Oversee all academic programs, colleges, schools, and departments, ensuring quality, relevance, rigor, and compliance with internal and external standards.

2. Lead curriculum development, program review, and academic policy formulation in accordance with accreditation requirements and international best practices.

3. Ensure the recruitment, evaluation, professional development, and retention of qualified faculty and academic staff.

4. Promote excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and student learning outcomes.

5. Maintain an effective system for academic assessment, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

2.3. Enrolment Growth and Student Success

1. Develop and implement strategies to achieve substantial and sustainable increases in student enrolment across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

2. Strengthen academic offerings, student services, marketing, and recruitment pipelines to enhance the University's attractiveness to local and international students.

3. Oversee policies and initiatives that support student progression, retention, well-being, and overall academic success.

4. Collaborate with admissions and marketing units to identify new markets, enhance visibility, and expand the diversity of the student body.

2.4. Accreditation, Quality Assurance, and Institutional Recognition

1. Ensure the University maintains all local accreditation requirements and remains in full compliance with MFHEA regulations.

2. Lead efforts to achieve, sustain, and enhance international accreditation and program-level accreditation where applicable.

3. Oversee processes that guarantee the integrity of academic standards, data reporting, and quality-assurance systems.

4. Pursue recognition in targeted countries to enhance the global portability and credibility of the University's degrees.

2.5. External Relations, Partnerships, and International Collaboration

1. Represent the University to overnmental bodies, regulatory agencies, partner institutions, and key stakeholders.

2. Lead the design and signing of strategic cooperation agreements with reputable international universities, research institutes, and industry partners.

3. Expand the University's global presence through academic partnerships, faculty exchanges, student mobility programs, and collaborative research initiatives.

4. Strengthen relationships with donors, corporate partners, funding agencies, and community organizations.

2.6. Financial Stewardship and Resource Optimization

1. Provide strategic oversight of the University's budget, financial planning, and resource allocation in coordination with the relevant units.

2. Ensure that all academic and administrative functions operate efficiently, responsibly, and within approved budgetary frameworks.

3. Lead efforts to diversify revenue streams through enrolment growth, partnerships, grants, and new program development.

4. Support responsible management of facilities, technology, human resources, and operational infrastructure.

2.7. Institutional Governance and Compliance

1. Report regularly to the Board of Trustees and implement Board directives in accordance with university bylaws.

2. Oversee compliance with all applicable laws, policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory frameworks.

3. Ensure the presence of sound internal controls, ethical practices, and risk-management protocols across all University operations.

4. Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and institutional integrity.

2.8. Leadership of the Executive Team and Organizational Development

1. Direct and supervise the University's senior leadership team, including academic deans, vice presidents, and administrative directors.

2. Build and sustain a high-performance executive environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and results-driven accountability.

3. Promote workforce development, succession planning, and organizational stability.

4. Lead institutional initiatives that enhance staff morale, communication, and operational harmony.

3. Performance Expectations

The Provost/Acting President shall be evaluated on measurable outcomes, including but not limited to:

• Achieving meaningful growth in student enrolment and retention.

• Sustaining or improving local and international accreditation status.

• Expanding partnerships and international recognition.

• Advancing academic quality, faculty performance, and student success indicators.

• Strengthening institutional governance, operational stability, and financial health.

• Ensuring adherence to the University's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
